This month we are highlighting the EntreLeadership podcast from the Ramsey Network. A recent episode we loved was an interview about the impact of social media on your business bottom line with guest Jasmine Star. The EntreLeadership Podcast: The Top Business Strategies for Social Media with Jasmine Star.
There were so many bits of wisdom in this episode. Any organization or business operating in this digital age should definitely check it out. “Is posting on social media a wise use of your time and resources?” Jasmine says not only is it not a waste, but it’s essential. We agree.
One of the most compelling reasons to build a strong brand, and communicate it via social media, is the ability to reach and attract customers with an affinity for you, what you do, and most importantly, why you do it. That affinity can be the reason you win the business and the foundation for a longstanding relationship. Jasmine reminds us, “People want to do business with people they know, like, and trust.”
Jasmine drops some wisdom regarding the importance of social media consistency and frequency. Not only does consistent content help build your brand, but frequency gives you data. And data gives you information to work with to better understand your audience and optimize your efforts.
Of course, posting on social media isn’t always a business owner’s favorite activity. In fact, it’s generally quite a departure from the business they actually perform and love. But, social media is one of the best ways to communicate your passion for what you do. Jasmine says, “to be successful in this digital age business owners must embrace this reality.”
Not talking about the thing you sell, but talking about how the thing you sell benefits your followers is also a key brand-building concept that we endorse. Too often, business’ websites and social media channels focus on the features rather than the benefits. Dozens of businesses do almost exactly what you do, but very few of them talk about how that thing helps solve the customer’s problem.
Jasmine also reminds listeners that almost everyone is bad at social media in the beginning. That’s ok. It will get better over time, and the more you do it, the better it gets. It’s the exercise of posting and sharing that matters more than the results, especially in the beginning.
Give this podcast a listen, and we think you’ll agree creating and sharing social media content on a consistent basis will pay off in the end.
